My name is Andrew Rickmann. I live in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, and I talk about designing and developing web sites.
What I do
I have worked in Financial Services for 10 years, mostly in compliance, My current role is an Advertising Specialist in a large Network / Compliance Consultancy. This involves, amongst many other things, providing guidance on the Financial Services Authority regulations and the way they apply to consumer advertising.
I also design and build websites on a freelance basis.

About my site
Rickmann Design is a test bed; a place to air my opinions, explorer uses for javascript, ajax, php, design, user experience, site layout, information design, information architecture, and anything else that takes my fancy.
What I like
As well as a fascination for web standards, and information architecture I spend many of my weekends tracking around Britain, especially the Yorkshire Dales, taking photographs of landscapes and waterfalls.
I recently combined these things interests by producing a website for tracking and sharing interesting locations for taking photographs (http://www.photospots.co.uk).
Spending as much time at the computer as I do, whether it be designing and building websites or editing photographs means I listen to a lot of music. I use last.fm to track my listening habits.
I have also been known to play guitar from time to time.
What I have done
I have not been interviewed for, appeared on, or been featured in, any news item, newspaper, or magazine. I haven’t sold any photographs.
A previous site design has been featured on CSSDesign.se, a Swedish web design inspiration site, where most commenters seemed to dislike it, if my Swedish is anything to go by.
